Welcome

Bellarine Bayside is the appointed Committee of Management for the local coastal reserve from Point Richards in Portarlington to Edwards Point in St Leonards. The Bellarine Bayside Board is responsible for the planning, management, care and protection of the assets and crown land along the (approximately) 17kms of foreshore.

Consultation Meetings

For 2014-2015, Bellarine Bayside Board is revising its meeting arrangements to be more efficient and aligned with its sister foreshore committees.
While our ordinary meetings will no longer be open to the public, we are very interested in listening to ideas from stakeholders about future projects and coastal management activities. We wish to invite any interested community members or local groups to come along and chat to Committee members over morning tea and if they wish to make a short presentation to the full Board.

Three consultation meetings have been planned:
• At Indented Head in the Indented Head Hall on Saturday 22 November 2014, 10.00 -11.00am
• At St Leonards (venue to be notified) on Saturday 18 April 2015, 10.00 -11.00am

So we can cater adequately, please email Sarah Heather at: sarahh@bellarinebayside.com.au if you plan to attend a morning tea. Please also advise if you wish to make a presentation, so we can schedule the time accordingly.

Ongoing Cliff Erosion at St Leonards

Bellarine Bayside has been monitoring the ongoing erosion along the part of the foreshore in the vicinity of First Avenue. There is evidence of cliff instability and recent and ongoing cliff falls. In response to increased risk to the public and the advice of geotechnical experts, a 230 metre section of the beach has been closed to the public.  The beach closure will remain in force until sand fencing is installed in early December 2013. Sand fencing will mitigate the coastal erosion and ensure the safe access along the beach for the public.

For more information please contact Nick Wynn, Manager Planning and Major Projects on 03 5254 4013.
